Fox studios Australia to expand

Fox Studios Australia is planning to expand its production facilities in Sydney, adding an additional soundstage as well as production and post-production offices.

The News Corp-owned operation plans to use space currently occupied by its unsuccessful theme-park site, the Backlot, predicated on the movie Titanic. The Backlot was shut down permanently tonight.

Since Fox Studios Australia opened in 1998, such high-profile films as Mission: Impossible 2, Moulin Rouge, and Star Wars Episode 2 have been produced there. Matrix Reloaded and Matrix 3 are currently being shot there.
