Geri Halliwell Robbed

Burglars ransacked the London home of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, stealing possessions worth $114,000 and wrecking her furniture by spraying her flat with milk and a blackcurrant drink, Reuters reports.

Halliwell discovered the break-in at her first floor flat in the trendy Notting Hill district on her return from a weekend break in Paris with British pop star Robbie Williams.

Amongst the items the pop singer lost: her computer, a stereo and some jewelry, including a rare necklace once owned by Elizabeth Taylor, which Halliwell had purchased at an auction.

“Naturally Geri is very upset, as anyone would be when they are burgled, but she’s coping fine,” her spokesman, Jonathan Hackford, told London’s Express newspaper.

London media speculate that the break-in might have been the work of a stalker. Last February the singer reportedly beefed up security at a $3.57 million mansion she owns north of London because of such fears.

Police told Reuters an inquiry had been launched into the break-in but declined to give details. Halliwell will be staying in a London hotel until her flat is restored.
