Gerard Depardieu was released Monday from a Paris hospital after successful heart bypass surgery, according to his agent. “He is in very good form, but he will now rest for three weeks at home under medical supervision,” Claude Davy told Reuters.
The 51-year-old actor underwent surgery July 10 after he entered the hospital because of chest pains.
Depardieu is known as a voracious eater and drinker. At the Cannes Film Festival in May, when reporters asked the actor what had happened to his diet and weight-loss regimen, he showed them his gut and said, “This is what happened to it. I love life,” according to Reuters.
