Gwyneth Paltrow is about to join the ranks of motherhood.
The Oscar-winning actress announced today that she is indeed expecting a baby with boyfriend Chris Martin, lead singer for Brit rockers Coldplay, confirming earlier reports of her pregnancy on the entertainment show Extra.
Reuters reports Martin’s spokeswoman issued a statement that the actress is pregnant and due next summer, although she could not say whether or not Paltrow and Martin plan to marry.
The relationship between Paltrow, 31, and Martin, 26, became public last year when he dedicated a song to her during a Coldplay show in New York.
Paltrow, 31, won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in 1998’s Shakespeare in Love and most recently starred in Sylvia, a biopic on the suicidal poet Sylvia Plath. She is the daughter of the late director Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner.
