Houston Pleads No Contest

Whitney Houston might get a chance to keep her record clean as a whistle after all.

Lawyers representing the pop diva pleaded no contest in Hawaii on her part for the marijuana possession charge against her, Reuters reports.

By pleading no contest last Thursday, Kona District Judge Joseph Florendo ruled that Houston, 37, could have the case dismissed if Houston agrees to a probation-like sentence. As part of the agreement, Houston would have to pay $1,000 to the Hawaii State General Fund as well as $3,000 to a youth-oriented anti-drug program. Three misdemeanor charges could be dismissed in as soon as three months.

Houston‘s legal troubles began on Jan. 11 when an airport security guard searched her back and allegedly found half an ounce of marijuana in two plastic baggies. Three partially smoked joints were also found.
