Matthew Perry Back in Rehab

Actor Matthew Perry, 32, who plays Chandler on the hit NBC series “Friends,” has entered an undisclosed rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles on the advice of his doctors.

“Matthew has every intention of completing his treatment so that he can continue his dream of entertaining people and making them laugh,” publicist Lisa Kasteler said in a three-sentence statement released to the press. “He appreciates everyone’s concern and thanks them for respecting his privacy.” Kasteler said.

Perry was admitted to rehab in 1997 for an addiction to prescription painkillers, and early last May he was hospitalized for stomach cramps. Perry‘s publicist has not disclosed the cause of the actor’s current illness to the media.

After his 1997 hospitalization, Perry was involved in an auto accident in Hollywood. The car he was driving collided with the front porch of a vacant home. Perry says he swerved to avoid another car, and investigators said that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the incident.
