MUSIC NOTES: She’s the Queen

After two kids and a second marriage, Madonna is still the Queen of Music.

The recently wed siren nabbed two awards, including best international female artist and the top album award for “Music,” at the Midem music fair in Cannes, France, the biggest music industry’s bash of the year, Reuters reports.

The awards were voted by listeners of the pop radio network NRJ, and the event attracted more than 10,000 record execs from 96 countries.

Madonna, who was not present at the powwow, edged out the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Shania Twain and Britney Spears for the top nod.

Michael Bolton PAY UP! Michael Bolton is probably twisting and shouting by now. The singer has lost a U.S. Supreme Court appeal to overturn an earlier verdict that found Bolton guilty of copying parts of an Isley Brothers’ song for his hit “Love Is a Wonderful Thing.”

According to Reuters, the High Court rejected the request for a new trial by Bolton today and ordered the singer and Sony Music to pay the $5.4 million the jury awarded to the Isley Brothers, which — of course — was the old school soul outfit most known for the songs “Shout” and “Twist and Shout.”

ZONING IN: The members of the Irish boy band Boyzone might come together for another tour, despite the fact that they have all gone solo, Reuters says.

“We plan to do a tour — hopefully at the end of this year,” former member Mikey Graham told reporters at the Midem Music fair.

Teenage girls around the world, take note.
