Pop princess Britney Spears topped the list of fashion guru Mr. Blackwell’s worst-dressed celebrities of 2000.
Spears’ barely there fashion statements in 2000 actually catapulted her to the No. 1 spot after coming in at No. 6 last year.
“Oops, she did it again,” Mr. Blackwell purred Tuesday. “Her bra-topped collection of Madonna rejects is pure fashion overkill. Relax. Help is on the way.”
Other singers who made the list included Spears rival Christina Aguilera (No. 6) and Icelandic singer/actress Bjork (No. 3).
Madonna Material Mom Madonna came in at No. 4 for her ghetto cowboy look, with Blackwell saying that she’s “still just kitschy, kitschy, kitschy.”
Singer Mariah Carey (No. 9) also received a Blackwell tongue lashing: “X-rated baby doll disasters are laughably low rent.”
On Elizabeth Hurley (No. 5), Blackwell said: “Her barely there fashion bombs have hit a sour note — buy a coat.” Angelina Jolie came in at No. 2 and Courtney Love at No. 8.
Also making Mr. Blackwell’s Top 10 this year were newsmakers Dr. Laura Schlessinger (No. 7) and Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris (No. 10). Blackwell said of Harris: “The pretty, brassy lassie from Tallahassee needs cosmetic direction.”
Known simply as Mr. Blackwell, Hollywood’s best-known fashion police officer produces his worst dressed list each year.
