Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, charged with allegedly cheating on his taxes, went on trial Wednesday in his Italian hometown of Modela. The trial was adjourned to Sept. 17 following Wednesday’s opening session on legal technicalities. Italian prosecutors allege that the tenor filed false tax returns from 1989 to 1995 and also was unable to prove he was a resident in Monte Carlo at the time, BBC News reports.
