Scripps says newspaper revenue down; cable, up

The venerable media company E.W. Scripps reported lower-than-expected results for the second quarter as a result in the advertising downturn but noted that its cable TV networks, including Home and Garden Television and the Food Network posted substantial increases. Revenue for Home and Garden rose 6.4 percent to $53.7 million, while Food Network saw its take rise 27 percent to $33.6 million.
