Two studios back anti-piracy system

Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures announced Tuesday that they have agreed to license a technology standard that reportedly prevents movies that are delivered digitally to home receivers from being captured and recorded. The Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) system embeds the copy protection into the actual signal while it’s being transmitted. News reports indicated that it will allow broadcast or cable companies to attach the code to some programs — such as pay-per-view movies — while allowing other programs, like sponsored telecasts, to be copied freely.
