Victoria hoping to land more films

The state government of Victoria, Australia is increasing the funding for Australian-based productions an additional $16.6 million over four years, it announced Tuesday. Much of the cash ($6.3 million over two years), it indicated, will go to the Melbourne Film Office, which attempts to attract producers to Victoria as a location. Sue Marriott from the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance told the British trade paper Screen International, “The industry here has been starved of funds for years and this money will allow us to make Victoria the center of creative and production excellence once more.
