Is Chord Overstreet Actually Leaving ‘Glee?’

Sam Glee Chord Overstreet Trouty MouthAs we reported earlier, the people at Glee brought down a little harsh news earlier this week. After promoting Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. to series regulars, they decided not to pick up Chord Overstreet’s (a.k.a. Sam) option. That seemed to really rile a few fans, because they took to Twitter protesting with the hashtag #DontCutTheChord, but it turns out all this noise may actually be in vain. No one’s cutting trouty mouth. He just didn’t get the big promotion; he’s still welcome to continue on in the same capacity he did for Season 2. Nothing is changing, folks. You can all rest easy…for now.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that if Overstreet is unhappy with his role as a recurring character instead of a regular, he could walk, but that’s entirely up to him. And let’s hope he’s not that overly prideful — Shum Jr. has been on the show for its entire run and he’s just now getting the call up to the big leagues. These things take time. Besides, the writers set up a few deeper aspects for Sam last season, so it would seem that he’s headed for bigger storylines and possibly, maybe a larger role in the future.
