Just like Simon Cowell‘s last show, American Idol, has celebrity mentors, so will his new one, this fall’s The X Factor — and it looks like Mariah Carey is already on board.
Each judge will have a big name come to his/her home to polish the singing contestants and ready them for stardom, and Cowell has handpicked the five-time Grammy winner as his choice.
It’s not yet clear when the celebs will be summoned during the series’ first season — in the U.K. X Factor, it happened during the semifinals — but Cowell & Co. are reportedly hoping Carey is the first of many such “guests,” with first-name-only superstars like Rihanna and Beyonce on their radar.
The series premieres Sept. 21 on Fox.
