The Second Season Of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ Gets A New Trailer & Release Date!

Netflix‘s debut Marvel series Daredevil swept us off our feet when it debuted last April. From Charlie Cox‘s perfect portrayal of blind lawyer turned vigilante Matt Murdock, to Vincent D’Onofrio‘s stunning transformation into Kingpin, we can admit that we’ve been a bit nervous to see how the second season would measure up. Especially since there has been a change in showrunner. However, as we’ve started to get more information on what’s to come during season two, which will premiere, March 18, 2016,  it looks as if our fears may have been unwarranted. Check out the new teaser trailer below.

While season one was a slow buildup both to Kingpin’s introduction and Matt Murdock’s backstory, the second season is going to begin with a bang. Entertainment Weekly reports, that the second season of Daredevil opens with an action sequence and continues at a rapid pace episode after episode. Season two also introduces us to Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher, who will be portrayed by The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal. Showrunner Doug Petrie said of the upcoming season, “We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f—ing could.”

So who exactly is Frank Castle? If you’re a Marvel novice, or just not too familiar with The Punisher, then you should know that Castle is a former Special Forces Officer with a very dark past. He has returned to NYC in an effort to try and clean it up. (Much like Murdock). However, what sets The Punisher apart from Daredevil, and from the majority of the superheros in both the D.C. and Marvel universes is the fact that he uses guns during his beat downs. Whether he’s a hero or a criminal has been left open to interpretation for many years, and we expect that Castle and Murdock will definitely have some tension since their moral codes aren’t exactly in sync. Petrie chatted about this tension saying, “Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second-guess themselves.” Jon Bernthal has said that he’s felt a great deal of pressure to get the character exactly right. He said, “People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up.” Bernthal even walked alone across the Brooklyn Bridge to set for months in order to get himself in the proper head space the play The Punisher since the character is very cold and calculated. Berthantal said, “He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”

The Punisher isn’t the only thing that will be adding some sizzle to the second season of Daredevil. Things are about to get a lot sexier as well. Murdock is going to be getting a lot closer to Karen, who is played by True Blood alum Deborah Ann Woll (We wonder where that will leave Foggy?), and his ex-girlfriend also pops up out of the blue. You might know her as Elektra. Elodie Yung will be playing the sultry character, and Doug Petrie said of the bad girl, “She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

Until the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil will arrives, here’s some more super cool footage to give you just a little taste of what is to come.
