ABC News producer’s baby has anthrax

On Monday, just three days after anthrax spores were discovered in Tom Brokaw‘s assistant, another case emerged, this time in an ABC News producer’s 7-month-old baby boy. The child tested positive for cutaneous anthrax.

The baby, currently undergoing treatment in a New York hospital, had been brought to ABC News offices on Sept. 28, and officials believe the he was exposed to anthrax there. ABC News’ New York headquarters is being subjected to an environmental review, according to statements made to the press by mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

As for the case involving Brokaw, the NBC News anchor said Monday that he–not just his assistant–was in danger of having been exposed to anthrax, which was sent in an envelope over a week ago.
