After making a splash in her first feature, Crossroads, pop princess Britney Spears wants to keep making movies–this time with NASCAR.
Under her production company, Britney Spears Productions, she will develop and produce her next project, involving the world of stock car racing. Reuters reports the singer signed the deal with the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, which ranks as one of the highest-rated sporting events on U.S. television, with a fan base of roughly 75 million.
In the as-yet-untitled movie, Spears, who is a fan of the sport, will play the daughter of a successful NASCAR team owner who inspires a former driver to return to the track. There will be appearances by real NASCAR drivers, as well as footage of real competition.
Producer Ann Carli told Reuters the film will show the true spirit of NASCAR.
“It is not just about winning–it’s about family, perseverance and the belief that any dream is possible,” Carli said.
