Boys will be boys.
Nick Carter, one of the members of the popular boy band Backstreet Boys, has agreed to enter into a pretrial intervention program to clear him of a misdemeanor charge, Florida state prosecutors told the St. Petersburg Times Saturday.
Carter, 22, who was arguing with a woman at a Tampa nightclub Jan. 2, was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer after he repeatedly refused the policeman’s orders to leave the club.
“I truly believe my celebrity motivated the officer to arrest me,” said Carter, who grew up in the Tampa area, in a statement released soon after his arrest.
Carter will have to serve a period of probation, perform community service and pay an undisclosed fine as part of the intervention program. Once they are completed, the charges will be dropped, Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi told the paper.
