Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones aren’t married yet, so you can go back to bed. The couple is denying a British Sun report that they’re planning beachside nuptials for Sept. 30 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
“There are plans for a wedding, but it’s not in Santa Barbara, and it’s not on the 30th,” Zeta-Jones’ publicist, Cece Yorkee, told USA Today.
The 78-acre Bacara Resort and Spa is the venue where the wedding is rumored to be taking place. A spokeswoman for the resort says the story is untrue.
Douglas’ Further Films representative, Allen Burry, says the resort may have spread the rumors to get free publicity for its debut.
Pulling his best Alanis, Burry tells USA Today, “Isn’t it ironic that the hotel is opening next week?”
Yes, it is ironic.
Zeta-Jones, 30, gave birth to the couple’s first child, Dylan Michael, on Aug. 9 in Beverly Hills, Calif. She is the star of “Entrapment” while Douglas, 55, won a Best Actor Oscar for 1987’s “Wall Street.”
