Desmond Llewelyn, the distinguished British actor whose gadget guru “Q” was forever exasperated by the gadget-busting James Bond in the 007 films, was killed Sunday in a two-car crash in England. He was 85.
Llewelyn appeared in 17 Bond films — from 1963’s “From Russia with Love” to this year’s “The World Is Not Enough.” He worked with all five major James Bond actors — Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.
On Sunday, Llewelyn was driving home from a book signing when his car collided head-on with another. The actor suffered massive internal injuries. He died at a nearby hospital. Two persons in the second car were also injured.
