Even though it makes her husband, Billy Bob Thornton, a little nervous, actress Angelina Jolie has admitted she would adopt another child if the circumstances were right.
She told Reuters, “I would love to adopt another child, from wherever there is a need. My husband’s nervous every time I go to another country.”
The star couple recently adopted a Cambodian boy after Jolie, who has joined the U.N. High Commission for Refugees, visited a Cambodian refugee camp in March.
Jolie, taking a break for shooting her latest film, visited a refugee camp on the Thai-Myanmar border.
“For me it makes perfect sense to go to an orphanage and find a child that needs a home,” said Jolie, as she met with the swarms of refugee children, donating sports equipment and clothing and wearing a tribal embroidered smock given to her by the refugees.
Jolie‘s commitment to helping refugees has helped her prepare for her next film, Beyond Borders, a love story about a volunteer doctor who works in refugee camps in Cambodia and Africa during the 1980s.
“Having been to these camps, I’ve never been so nervous that a film does justice to the people involved. My heart’s more for here than the film business.”
She also added, “I’m always surprised by the people. They seem very happy with what little they have. But obviously, as human beings and after what they have been through — they should have more.”
