“Lord of the Rings” helps New Zealand

New Line’s plans for numerous gala premieres of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings
throughout the world represents an “unparalleled opportunity” for
the country to showcase trade, tourism and investment opportunities, New
Zealand authorities said Monday as the first of the film’s major
premieres was staged in London’s West End.

The post-premiere party
featured a dinner of New Zealand lamb, Montana Wine (a New Zealand
brand), Frucor beverages and New Zealand vodka. Montana obtained
exclusive “pourage rights” at every international premiere. Investment
New Zealand film manager Paul Voigt, in an interview with the New
Zealand Press Association, also praised the stars of the film for saying
“hugely positive things” about the country. “They are all great
ambassadors for New Zealand,” he said.
