Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend. Just ask Madonna. Marriage, on the other hand, is another matter.
The Queen of Music is delighted about the large diamond ring she was given by her boyfriend, British director Guy Ritchie.
“I had absolutely no idea,” Madonna told US Weekly in an interview to be published Friday. “I never liked big rocks on my finger. Well, I do now.”
But queried about whether a holiday wedding was in the cards, as predicted by British tabloids, Madonna replied: “I wouldn’t say it’s an engagement ring, at least not right now. We talk about marriage, but we can’t decide whether it’s something that’s necessary.”
Ritchie, 31, gave Madonna the rock on the day she came home with new baby Rocco, also the same day as Madonna’s 42nd birthday.
Madonna, who divorced actor Sean Penn in 1989 after four years of marriage, met Ritchie, the director of “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and the upcoming “Snatch,” two years ago at a lunch party hosted by Sting.
