MUSIC NOTES: Garth Brooks Talks Pension

Between work and life, there exists something called semi-retirement. And what do you know, Garth Brooks is considering it. Again.

The country singing king announced his intended withdrawal from the world of music today in a press conference, stressing that he would like to devote more time to being a full-time father, Reuters reports.

“I asked my wife to be both mother and father for eight years to our three daughters, and it’s time for me to accept my responsibilities as a parent,” Brooks said.

Still, Brooks asserted that his upcoming album, out next spring, would probably not be his last. And while we’re at it, the 38-year-old singer also said that he would not be opposed to giving an occasional concert or two.

Of course, this is not the first time Brooks has retread from his career to refocus his attention on his family. Back in 1992, a series of live shows was canceled for the very same reason.

And according to the singer, he and his wife of 14 years have yet to decide on a permanent split.

“Sandy and I have not agreed to a divorce as the effect it will have on our children is weighing very heavy on our souls right now,” Brooks said. “We are very close to a decision.”

EM RAPS UP NORTH: Guess our northern neighbor got a dose of the real Slim Shady after all. Toronto police announced that self-fashioned bad boy rapper Eminem was allowed entry into Canada for a concert in Toronto on Thursday night, Reuters reported. On Wednesday, Ontario’s attorney general vowed to stop the controversial rapper from stepping foot onto Canadian soil because of his scathing lyrics.

STRIP TEASE: Who said that the Brits are prudish? Definitely not pop star Robbie Williams. The British popster was absolved by the Broadcasting Standards Commission — a broadcasting watchdog — for dropping his pants in his video for “Rock DJ.” In the video, Williams apparently pulled down his pants to reveal a pair of boxers while gyrating at a woman.
