Now you see ’em….
On Tuesday, NBC, ABC, FOX and the WB announced which new fall shows are getting the ax–and which will be spared.
NBC is dropping Inside Schwartz on Thursday nights, opting to air reruns of Will & Grace, Friends and Scrubs in the 8:30 p.m. timeslot. Speaking of Scrubs, the new Tuesday-night comedy has been picked up for an entire new season. As for dramas, NBC renewed Crossing Jordan on Monday nights and Law & Order: Criminal Intent on Sundays.
At ABC, Jim Belushi‘s Wednesday-night sitcom According to Jim received a renewal based on very strong ratings week-to-week, as did the energetic Sunday-night drama Alias.
After just three weeks on the air, WB execs announced three pickups-all of them Friday-night sitcoms. Reba, the Frog Network’s top-rated comedy, will make it through the spring, as will Raising Dad and the imaginative family series Maybe It’s Me.
Not surprisingly, FOX committed to a full-season renewal of the Tuesday-night critical darling Undeclared; however, the jury’s still out on FOX‘s roster of other new shows.
On Tuesday, CBS did not reveal any new pickups or deletions from its schedule, but execs did announce that the highly anticipated Ellen DeGeneres comedy The Ellen Show–which was expected to dominate Friday nights at 8 p.m., only to disappoint thus far–will receive a new timeslot: Fridays at 8:30 p.m. Reruns of The King of Queens will air in its place, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
