Advice to the Hollywood star: Beware the British love interest. It’s not that Brits are bad romantic fodder, it’s that their hometown press is worse. Take the case of Madonna. The control freak is likely freaking out over the rabid reports in the British tabs this weekend that she is on the outs with U.K. director Guy Ritchie (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels“), the father of her new baby-to-be.
On Sunday, the News of the World (gotta love that humble Fleet Street press) reported that Madonna, 41, and Ritchie, 31, were “close to splitting up” because they can’t agree on where to live. (He’s supposedly partial to London; she, to Los Angeles.)
Today, other tabs dogpiled on the story, saying things had gotten so bad that (a) the couple was in “crisis talks”; and, (b) Madonna had (gasp!) fired her London butler!
No word yet on the pair’s status from Camp Madonna. Their babe is due in September.
PUSHING RINGS? E! Online gossip Ted Casablanca is reporting that Angelina Jolie wed the object of her latest tattoo (uh, that would be Billy Bob Thornton) last week. No word yet from the actors’ reps.
