NY tries to save its movie business

The New York Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting resumed issuing film permits Wednesday in all boroughs except Manhattan. “It’s really important that we get back to work ASAP, or productions will start leaving New York, and that would have dreadful economic consequences,” Commissioner Patricia Lee Scott of the agency told today’s New York Post.

Scott said that she had received requests from some companies to reshoot scenes in the city “and we’re working to accommodate them as best we can.” She noted that fewer productions than usual were shooting in New York currently because studios had ramped up production earlier in the year in anticipation of an industry strike.
