In an effort to calm a storm of controversy that arose in Portugal after two contestants on a local version of Big Brother were seen engaging in sex on the show, the couple were married on television Thursday. Although the couple was under bedclothes and little could be seen, the country’s High Media Authority, the nation’s TV watchdog, has said that it plans to prosecute the channel for obscenity. In an interview with the British Web site Ananova, Arthur Portela, director of the watchdog, commented: Big Brotherhas shown excessive live sex without warning.” Bishop Januario Torgal Ferreira was quoted as saying, “I am shocked. People are selling their souls.”
