Pitt, Malkovich: Heroes and Villains?

Holy Fight Club, Batman!

Can you imagine Brad Pitt as the Caped Crusader?

Warner Bros. latest effort to revive its comatose Batman franchise might involve the “Meet Joe Black” star assuming the role formerly filled by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney.

EW Online is reporting today that Darren Aronofsky, who has been rumored to inherit the Batman franchise’s directorial duties, recently met with Pitt. However, it’s unclear whether Aronofsky wants Pitt to play Batman or … Chuck Barris.

Yes, that’s Chuck Barris of “The Gong Show” fame.

See, Aronofsky is not only talking to Warners about “Batman 5” but also about taking over the reins of the Barris biopic “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” which has a screenplay written by Charlie Kaufman of “Being John Malkovich” fame.

“I’d want to bring an independent guerrilla flavor to ‘Batman,'” Aronofsky says, according to the report. Bryan Singer is also under consideration to direct the next “Batman.”

Meanwhile, Warners has also reportedly green-lighted a live-action version of the cartoon “Batman Beyond,” which takes place in a different Bat-time on a different Bat-channel.

BEING GREEN GOBLIN: More interesting superhero flick news. It seems that John Malkovich is the likely candidate to play Norman Osborne, aka the evil Green Goblin — that glider-flying, pumpkin-lobbing meanie — in Sam Raimi’s upcoming “Spider-Man” which, according to the latest reports, will start shooting in November.

The news comes, of course, just days after Nicolas Cage recently dropped out of contention for the A list villain role.

Malkovich‘s camp confirmed to Cinescape Online that the low-key, cerebral thesp is definitely in negotiations to play the cackling, green-skinned madman. We can only hope.
