“Potter” fans strip theater in Scotland

New meaning was given to the term “rabid Harry Potter fan” when people
attending the Scottish premiere of the new movie in Leith reportedly
made off with cut-out figures, posters and banners as they left the
theater.

A spokeswoman for the Ster Century theater told today’s
London Daily Record that police stopped one man
carrying a 12-foot piece of memorabilia. “The chap looked very
respectable and had his child or grandchild with him,” the spokeswoman
said. “He didn’t even look sheepish when staff stopped him, just
disappointed that he hadn’t managed to get away with it.” She added:
“Everyone went Harry Potter mad. It was like a plague of locusts. The
place was stripped absolutely bare in no more than 15 minutes.”
