Hey Hollywooders! What’s Good in the ‘Wood this Wednesday? Well, we know that Lily James is set to star as the famous Pamela Anderson in the new Hulu series Pam and Tommy, and according to Elle, she is unrecognizable in her new role. In fact, she looks like a spitting image of Pam Anderson!
The new series stars Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and musician husband Tommy Lee. The comedy series takes on the tale of what Variety calls “the first viral video in history.” Yes, we are referring to the infamous sex tape that was leaked. In the series with other celebrities including Taylor Schilling and Seth Rogen, Rand Gauthier (played by Seth Rogen) stole and released the sex tape after building a studio and security system for the Motley Crue drummer himself, Tommy Lee.
Seth Rogen, too, is unrecognizable in his role as the washed-up porn actor turned electrician. Seriously, Seth Rogen is sans beard in this role, and from a first glance, you’d think it’s Bruce Willis. You can’t help but yell out “holy crap!”
Other than that, the British actress Lily James has yet another iconic role to add to her already impressive acting repertoire!
Lily James in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
At this point, if you haven’t seen the two Mamma Mia! movies, wyd? The second movie, written and directed by Ol Parker is the sequel to the 2008 release starring Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep. It can actually be considered a prequel as well as a sequel because, as the story goes, Meryl Streep’s character, Donna, had passed on. Sophie (Seyfried) and her three fathers are left with memories of Donna in her hell-raising days.
We are first introduced to young Donna (Lily James) at her graduation as valedictorian of her graduating class at Oxford University (wow!). Fashionably late in go-go boots (because why not? It was the 1970s), Donna takes the mic and her soulful voice then sings ABBA’s “When I Kissed the Teacher.” For graduating seniors everywhere, that’s definitely one way to make a commencement speech!
Young Donna then travels to Paris where she meets father #1, Harry Bright (Colin Firth). After spending a night together, she sails away to Kalokairi, Greece where she then meets Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard). While Sophie is preparing for Hotel Bella Donna’s opening, Sam Charmichael (Pierce Brosnan) recalls the story of how he and Donna met, which is another ABBA song on its own.
The rest you will have to watch, we’re not going to spoil the entire thing for you.
Lily James in Baby Driver
The Oscar-nominated film stars Ansel Elgort as Baby and is directed by Edgar Wright who is an absolute genius when it comes to producing heist films. Lily James plays Debora, a waitress and ultimately Baby’s girlfriend, and together they are trying to flee from Baby’s life of crime-committing. But unfortunately, that’s only as easy as it sounds.
To give a little background on the film, Baby survives a car crash in which his parents were killed. To cope, he finds comfort in music. He unknowingly stole a car from a master criminal, Doc played by Kevin Spacey. To pay his dues to Doc, Baby then has the opportunity to drive a getaway car for Doc’s apprentices. I know, kind of a sketchy deal.
Lily James in Cinderella
Lily James plays the princess herself in the 2015 live-action adaptation of the vintage Walt Disney film. In the movie, we find out where Cinderella gets her famous pen name, as well as her actual name. And there’s actually a lot of backstory as to how the prince, Kit, (yes, Prince Charming’s name is Kit and he is played by Richard Madden) gets to marry the mysterious woman in the beautiful blue dress that we all know and adore.
