It’s an Idol reunion!
Singer Jennifer Hudson will join fellow former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee on NBC’s Smash for a multi-episode arc. She joins a long list of celebrity guest stars that the show has featured, including Nick Jonas, Uma Thurman and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.
Hudson will play Broadway star Veronica Moore and NBC couldn’t be happier. “This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson,” said network chairman Robert Greenblat. “Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it.”
